Well, it's Friday. There's no denying that small fact, and why would I? Each week is passing with the dull ringing of a large gong which indicates the impending doom(and breath). I know, I know, “Simon, cut the melodramatics” you cry.
I’ll give you something to cry about…
Nah, it’s not all that bad. This weekend is going to be my most relaxing so far this session. I only have 2 assignments and a MatLAB program due next week. I’m glad I took the last 2 days off, I was so incredibly shredded.
Anyhow, last night Eltham had a crew around and we watched American Beauty. I think this movie is exceptionally well done, and I love Kevin Spacey’s work, However I don’t think it’s a movie I want to see again in a hurry. The wife/mother in that movie is so incredibly joyless and fake, not only that but the way she forces this façade upon the rest of the family, would make most single guys shudder and fear marital commitments. Exactly the kind of reinforcement I need. “Run, Simon, run”.….
mmmm… Some things are worth the perseverance. AB really is quite a disturbing movie, and it’s meant to be, but the statement it makes on the development and decay of society and the individual is both brave and fair. I’m sure Amanda was disturbed by different things, to that of which I was. I’m sure over lunch today we’ll have a debriefing session.
Lessons learnt:
Don’t buy expensive Lounges, or you’ll be afraid to use them.
If you want a car buy it.(don’t be concerned about practicality)
Winners don’t do drugs.
Keep your clothes on while working out.
Be real.
Keep all communication lines open
The World is full of beauty. Just stop, breath, and take it in.
Sim’s note:
Sometimes the most beautiful things are in the actions of those around you. I did say sometimes.

I agree. It is quite an interesting movie which says a few hard hitting things about society. It's a bit rough in a couple of spots as well.
I actually quite enjoyed the unique style of the movie!! It was certainly one that got you thinking.... I quite enjoy movies like that, although it was little disturbing! :(
I haven't seen the movie. Don't think I'm in any hurry to.
I do however KNOW that my new linux installation is far more beautiful than that movie!!
As I said the other night after watching it- I thought it was one of the strangest movies I have ever seen. It sort of made my head spin- mind you- perhaps I should not have watched it after only having 2 hours sleep the night before and a very stressful day!!! It was cool though, it made me think a bit which I always like in a movie- I am not sure I want to go out and buy it- I think it is a movie to watch with other people.
